The Wellington Phoenix Youth Team plays in the National Youth League during the Summer Season where it competes against the best U20 teams from around the country. The season runs from October to December. The squad is made up of U17 Academy players and supplemented with Reserve Team players from the ISPS Handa Premiership roster. For the 2019/20 Season the regulations allow a maximum of 2 players from the National League squad in any given match day squad.
Our other youth team players play in an Academy Development games programme during the NYL season. This games programme is a vital cog in the players continual development.
During the winter season from April to August our youth teams play under our partner club Lower Hutt City AFC in the regional mens and youth leagues. Academy players from U16 upwards compete in Mens competitions where as our younger Academy players play in the Youth competitions.
